It all began in 1953. The brothers Yves and Guy Massel created the Masselco company, which distributed the Peugeot brand in Cayenne, French Guiana.
From the beginning of the decade, Peugeot became the preferred brand of the Guyanese.
The LORET Group, the historical Peugeot importer in Guadeloupe, bought Masselco in 2005 and allowed the company to continue to develop.
Since then, the company has changed its name to SOMASCO and opened two further dealerships in Kourou and Saint-Laurent.
SOMASCO-Peugeot is still the market leader in Guyana.
As a major player in the ultramarine territories, the LORET Group is committed to guarantee the future of the Group, its employees, and its partners. Consistency, careful management, and ethics are key principles that underpin our daily actions. We intend to contribute in a positive and socially responsible way to the future of the overseas regions in which we operate, with a particular focus on economic and digital accessibility and also energy transition.
